Bit that's what I get for feeding them. Gota admit though I am kinda of attached to them even if they do make a mess of the yard.

When I lived in the country for a short time, a wild turkey decided to take off right as I was driving by. He flew right up and at my windshield, and just barely got enough altitude before I got him right in front of my face.

They fly better than I thought they would. I’d hate to hit one. Alot more mass than a goose.

I’m in a residential area but with a ll the construction going on their running out of places to go. We’ve always had critters here but now they’re getting thick. Biggest deer I’ve seen in years.

Only the wild ones fly. It was always between the ground and a tree, unless they were running off. Definitely not a long distance flier.

one night a turkey almost scared me out of my tree stand as it took off to roost right by me. SOBs are loud when they take off.

I’ve seen them run and go a good 30 feet and land about 10 feet up in a tree.

We had domestic turkeys as a kid so I was kinda surprised. Especially when they roost in the trees for night.

These wild ones are not as tasty as domestic turkey because they fly and run, so they are pretty slim.

I've never had wild turkey on a plate, only in a glass.  Do they have a gamey flavor?

I suppose slow cooking with lots of moisture should keep it from being dry or tough.

Yes, they taste like what they eat. In my case the bird tasted like pine nuts and insects. The brea st meat is best, legs and thigh s are tolerable but have very little fat and a lot of sinu. I guess most turkey hunters just cut out the breast meat and leave the rest of the bird. Even the largest of wild birds around my area are basically the same size as a large store bought chicken so IMO it’s not really worth the hassle.

I saw a trunk hit one at 70mph. A lot more feathers than I was expecting
